Lavina Wood

LaVina Marie Wood A child of God LaVina Marie Wood, 56, lost her hard fought battle with Leukemia Aug. 11, 2006. Her generous and warm heart brought joy, comfort and love to all who knew her. Born May 23, 1950 to Vera Louise Lamper (Rowe) and William R. Wood in Salt Lake City, Utah where she graduated from Granite High in 1969. LaVina was a longtime employee of CR England Trucking Co. where she worked in the parts department. She had an uncommon love for her pets and all animals and was enchanted by pixies and fairies. Survived by her sister, LeNora L. Wood (Buck) Taylorsville, UT; and brother, Mont W. Miller, Mt. View, WY; father; nephews, Tom Dixon, TJ Dixon; nieces, Shirley Miller (Bo and Crystal), and Erica C. Buck. Preceded in death by her mother, Vera, whom LaVina tirelessly cared for prior to her death. Family and friends are invited to a viewing Wed. Aug. 16, 2006 beginning 6-7 p.m. followed by a Rosary and Vigil from 7-7:30 p.m. at St. Martin De Porres Catholic Church, 4914 South 2200 West, Taylorsville, UT. LaVina's, Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 12 noon Thurs. Aug. 17, 2006 at St. Martin's. We would like to extend a special thanks to the nurses and staff at Cottonwood Hospital who cared for LaVina these past several months. Directors Independent Funeral Service.
