Kay Terry Vanwyngaarden

Our beloved Kay has returned into the waiting arms of her maternal grandmother this January 30, 2000, at the age of 48.  Kay was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother and grand-mother who will be dearly missed. She was a beacon of light to her family and friends, as well as the patients, nurses and tech-nicians at Central Valley Dialysis.

Her grandchildren named her "Crazy Grandma" for she could always be counted on to join and lead them in the funniest and wackiest games, songs and dances. Whether for family, friends or her patients, she had an uncanny ability to uplift everyone's spirits with her outrageous true-life stories, and never-ending, small, unique gifts. She leaves a vacant space in our hearts that will be very difficult to fill. Her courage in facing the everyday problems and suffering of her disease, even to the final chapter, was an inspiration to all of us.

Kay is survived by her mother and father, Betty and Vern Terry; sisters, Joy Langston and Susan (Gordon) Walkingshaw; husband, Arie; daughters, Angela (Bryan) Witzel and Heidi (Jason) Tulin; and five wonderful grandchildren, along with all of their families.   For those wishing to express their condolences, Kay and her family request that donations, in lieu of flowers, be made, in Kay's memory, to the National Kidney Foundation of Utah at 3707 North Canyon Road, Suite 1D, Provo, UT 84604, earmarked for children with Polycystic Kidney Disease. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, February 2, 2000, at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum, 3401 South Highland Dr., Salt Lake City, Utah; where friends and family may call, prior to services.

Kay's love of water-sports, swimming, water skiing, snorkeling and scuba diving give us insight on her current path. She has cast off from our shore and we watch as she swims away until, being out of view, someone says, "She has gone, gone from my sight." But remember, she is destined for another shore where many will gladly shout, "Here she comes."

I was so sad to see this name come into the memory page. I spent a lot of time with Kay Terry. She was a wonderful person. I hope others took the time to know her and see who she really was. I'll always remember you my friend.
