November 2022
Life is good… And I am very blessed. Since retirement in 2019 I've had to redefine myself given that my work had always defined me. I managed a cardiac surgical team, achieved my Masters in nursing education, taught in all aspects of staff development and nursing competency, worked in Employee Health, Utilization Review and finally as a Supply Chain and Clinical Evidence-based Resource nurse. After 39 years with Scripps Health, it was hard to leave. However, I have been creating a "bucket list" for sometime now and have finally made time for myself. Over the last few years my focus has been on undergoing a major transformation to include weight loss and better health. I walk 2-3 miles four times a week at Torrey Pines State beach... one of San Diego's best (the ocean is majestic and beautiful but I still miss the mountains). I have a personal trainer and about to start weight training soon. I'm working on a children's book based on a poem that I wrote at 9 yrs old. I want to study theology and pursue the Arts to include woodworking. I love to bake and would like to sell my heart-shaped signature cookies. I'm determined to learn to play the electric guitar! I have a heart for animals and want to leave a legacy for them; I'm looking to engage in the work of the Humane Society of the US. The list goes on... and I only wish I had started earlier in life. I never married... never having found a man that met my conditions for a quality relationship and refusing to "settle." But I may be a better person having made that decision. God is at the center of my life and that's what I prefer. If He decides to open a door... I may look inside... you never know!
