I realized that I needed to just totally get out of medicine if I wanted to to something completely different in this life. We lived and worked in Hawaii for about a year. We traveled around the country living in a travel trailer. I adopted 3 kids. My oldest biologic kid is 31 years old and my youngest adopted kid is 15. What a Blessed adventure and life. No grandkids. We settled down in Prosser, Washington. Now we are looking at uprooting and considering volunteer work somewhere in the world

I am sorry that I actually did not graduate from high school. The country and I were experiencing a great deal of unrest in the sixties. I was pretty lost and it took some time for me to figure things out. I got into the University of Utah without a diploma. I realized that I actually liked learning and did well. I ended up at the University of Nevada School of Medicine and did my general surgery training at the University of Tennessee. I practiced general surgery in Alaska for 30 years then moved to Hawaii thinking I could slow down.
