School Story:
[Dateline - July 2017]
Three weeks, at this writing, until the event of this year begins at 5pm on 26 August 2017 to celebrate the half-century mark since our graduation from Granite High School, June 1967 - a lot has transpired for us since that day and sadly many of our classmates have passed away...
The reunion committee has put a lot of work into this, our 50-year reunion event, so here's to them and may the event be a lasting memory as we move onward to the future and many more memories...!
[Dateline - April 2017]
Just a few months and it will be the half-century mark since graduating from Granite High School, June 1967... Looking forward to the reunion scheduled for 26 August 2017 at the Salt Lake City "Little America Hotel"... Hope to see you all there...!
[Dateline - April 2014]
Had surgery on my left ankle to remove all the "hardware" that was installed there back in August of 2010... For three years I did "sit-down" work, but after this last surgery, the boss said no to me going back to work under the same medical restrictions as before, so with sick leave and vacation leave rapidly running out, I was "forced" to retire... Officially retired as of 1 April 2014...
[Dateline - June 2012]
The years have continued to roll on and the road to old age continues to be an adventure - even if one has to limp into that future... I am still employed at the Seattle School District, but have somewhat been given a "reprieve" from custodial duties since my accident in August 2010 - I knew my computer skills would come in handy one day...! Life is good, especially since I am no longer living in a tin box - those who are on FaceBook can read all about that if you have connected with me there...
As we all continue on towards our "golden years", it is my hope that we can all make it to the 50 year mark since our graduation in 1967... I hope to see a lot of you at our upcoming "pot luck picnic" 45 year reunion and again in 2017...! Keep in touch as time permits and visit here often...
[Dateline - 2007]
Wow...! 40 years since graduating...?! Seems like yesterday, as the saying goes... Well, not really because 40 years since high school graduation, life's path for me has encompassed a variety of events... I may have taken the "well traveled path", but I've had plenty of company...!
Right out of high school I became a member of good ol' Uncle Sam's Navy... 1967 - 1970 I experienced a sailor's life of fun, misery, some more fun, and finally freedom from a structured existence... I'll save all the "war" stories for later...
I've done the marriage thing twice (once for almost 11 years; the second one almost 4 years) and now am happily enjoying single life and riding my Harley (2006 Ultra Classic [crashed into a truck and a guardrail on the last week of my summer 2010 vacation])...
My employment life? I've worked at a newspaper (Newspaper Agency Corp - SLC, UT); worked as a material packager for the U.S. Air Force (Hill AFB, Ogden, UT); worked as a surveyor and survey crew member for the U.S. Forest Service (Libby, MT & Gardiner, MT); worked as a facilities manager for the Film & TV Department (MSU - Bozeman, MT); worked as a grip for a grip company (Seattle, WA); worked as chief tech for a camera rental house (Seattle, WA); merchant seaman 1988 - 1993 (lots of ports-of-call); film/video rental department mgr; apartment manager (Seattle, WA); and now I sweep & mop floors (oh yes, and clean toilets, too...) as a Licensed Assistant Custodian for the Seattle Public Schools...
That's my life in a nutshell since graduating 40 years ago from good ol' Granite High School... Looking forward to another 40 years...!
